The Hell of Flying

Soooo..
Me and Justine flew back home on Sunday the 21st of December.
WELL!
We got the calgary airport with plenty of time to eat breakfast get through security and just relax. Our flight leaving calgary was delyaed by an hour. This was just stressful because we had to catch our flight leaving vancouver supposedly 10 minutes after we were supposed to land.

So we got to vancouver. Off the plane and bolted it across the airport to catch our next flight.

DELAYED!

It was delayed for an hour and half. LAME
So we decided to eat lunch.

The plane boarded at the time it was supposed to be departed and then we spent 3 and a half hours SITTING ON THE PLANE.

While we were sitting on the tarmac in Van waiting to De-Ice. Our flight was actually cancelled and then rescheduled. The runway was shut down and then re opened. It was fun.

We were the only flight in to Prince George through air canada that day. It was fun. But we were glad to just be home.

So hopefully our flight back to calgary is better.

Mikes View "Australia"

So me and jess went and saw the movie Australia directed by Baz Lurhman, starring the brilliant Hugh Jackman and the so so Nicole Kidman.

I really liked this movie a lot. It had a lot of different elements that made for a very well written movie. Hugh Jackman did an amazing job. He was clever, fun, dramatic and all in all fantastic.

I am not usually a fan of Nicole Kidman but she did a really good job in this movie. She was funny when the moment needed it and was incredible when the scenes got a little to intense.

I love the little kid who place nallah. He is just a gem.

The movie did have its downside. It is 3 hours long. After about 2 hours you just get this urge to look at your watch and ask yourself when it will end. But then it gets even better. I am not one for epics but this had me all the way through. I had to pee near the end but i just couldnt bring myself to get up and go to the bathroom because i didnt want to miss anything. Unlike jess who did have to get up and pee half an hour to the end.

If you are skeptical as it is a Baz Lurhman movie put that skepticism aside and go see this film without prejudice.

Kurt this means you. Go see it.

-The Awesome Mike and Jess-

The Injured one

So Jess has this wicked tendency to hurt herself. Not only that but she also has a tendency to bruise easily.
We went and saw Australia last week and we were walking in to Petland and ice fell off the awning on to our faces and we both stopped in our tracks and were like WTF. I was ok Jess on the other hand has this wicked bruise. Its kinda funny just for that fact that you can poke fun at her.

This post isnt very long but you know.

Book # 2

Hello all,

So Mike and I started a book club, which you know from earlier posts. I thought that I would post the next book up here so if anyone wants to keep up they can.

It's Inkheart written by Cornelia Funke

So far both of us are really enjoying it.

Jess's view of the movie Twilight

Twilight is the best worst most awesome movie!!

Ok so I really enjoyed the movie for what it was. It was a total teen movie, which was kinda fun as I normally don't watch those types of movies. I thought that the actors cast for each character were well cast, they suited them all nicely. The shots of Forks (the town in which Bella moves to) look really well and set up the area nicely. The narrative that Bella has at points in the movie is a nice way of bringing the book into the movie. Which is nice because the book and movie are vastly different, in good and bad ways.I also agree with Mike that the cast was not used to the full talent and the movie seemed rushed.

Ok so here comes my issues with the movie,

1 Not enough of the Cullens, I think that they really should have had more of them in the movie.

2 Certain character traits or apperances that didn't get transferred over to the movie, such as Alice's hair colour, Jacob' hair and so forth. ( i'm not going to on too much about this as I know things change for movies)

3 Too short, I get that this is being marketed for Preteens (I hate the word tween) and teens but the movie should have been about 30 mins longer for the flow to work better and you could have had more in the movie.

4 now this just pissed me off they don't have the one kiss that Edward just plants on Bella wheb they are parting to escape from James, this is a big thing in the book (they mention this moment in the other books) and they don't have it in the movie adn well that just pissed me off!

Ok so my fave thing counting downto number 1

5 Jasper and Alice they were awesome, whatever they were doing

4 Bella's red truck

3 The chemistry between the leads was great

2 Edward walking in the parking lot with the Raybands and that smirk of his (hot)

1 Edward in the waffle shirt *

As a final word, I plan on seeing the movie once more as when we went I was on about 8 hours of sleep for the week and was a little punchy, which might have been why I laughed a lot at this movie. But If you want to see a none thinking movie for just a good time, then I say go see Twilight.

* i kinda yelled really loudly in the theater at this point and it was the one time the theater was dead silent, but whatever that man looks good in a waffle shirt!
