The Hell of Flying

Soooo..
Me and Justine flew back home on Sunday the 21st of December.
WELL!
We got the calgary airport with plenty of time to eat breakfast get through security and just relax. Our flight leaving calgary was delyaed by an hour. This was just stressful because we had to catch our flight leaving vancouver supposedly 10 minutes after we were supposed to land.

So we got to vancouver. Off the plane and bolted it across the airport to catch our next flight.

DELAYED!

It was delayed for an hour and half. LAME
So we decided to eat lunch.

The plane boarded at the time it was supposed to be departed and then we spent 3 and a half hours SITTING ON THE PLANE.

While we were sitting on the tarmac in Van waiting to De-Ice. Our flight was actually cancelled and then rescheduled. The runway was shut down and then re opened. It was fun.

We were the only flight in to Prince George through air canada that day. It was fun. But we were glad to just be home.

So hopefully our flight back to calgary is better.

Mikes View "Australia"

So me and jess went and saw the movie Australia directed by Baz Lurhman, starring the brilliant Hugh Jackman and the so so Nicole Kidman.

I really liked this movie a lot. It had a lot of different elements that made for a very well written movie. Hugh Jackman did an amazing job. He was clever, fun, dramatic and all in all fantastic.

I am not usually a fan of Nicole Kidman but she did a really good job in this movie. She was funny when the moment needed it and was incredible when the scenes got a little to intense.

I love the little kid who place nallah. He is just a gem.

The movie did have its downside. It is 3 hours long. After about 2 hours you just get this urge to look at your watch and ask yourself when it will end. But then it gets even better. I am not one for epics but this had me all the way through. I had to pee near the end but i just couldnt bring myself to get up and go to the bathroom because i didnt want to miss anything. Unlike jess who did have to get up and pee half an hour to the end.

If you are skeptical as it is a Baz Lurhman movie put that skepticism aside and go see this film without prejudice.

Kurt this means you. Go see it.

The Injured one

So Jess has this wicked tendency to hurt herself. Not only that but she also has a tendency to bruise easily.
We went and saw Australia last week and we were walking in to Petland and ice fell off the awning on to our faces and we both stopped in our tracks and were like WTF. I was ok Jess on the other hand has this wicked bruise. Its kinda funny just for that fact that you can poke fun at her.

This post isnt very long but you know.

Book # 2

Hello all,

So Mike and I started a book club, which you know from earlier posts. I thought that I would post the next book up here so if anyone wants to keep up they can.

It's Inkheart written by Cornelia Funke

So far both of us are really enjoying it.

- the awesome jess

Jess's view of the movie Twilight

Twilight is the best worst most awesome movie!!

Ok so I really enjoyed the movie for what it was. It was a total teen movie, which was kinda fun as I normally don't watch those types of movies. I thought that the actors cast for each character were well cast, they suited them all nicely. The shots of Forks (the town in which Bella moves to) look really well and set up the area nicely. The narrative that Bella has at points in the movie is a nice way of bringing the book into the movie. Which is nice because the book and movie are vastly different, in good and bad ways.I also agree with Mike that the cast was not used to the full talent and the movie seemed rushed.

Ok so here comes my issues with the movie,

1 Not enough of the Cullens, I think that they really should have had more of them in the movie.

2 Certain character traits or apperances that didn't get transferred over to the movie, such as Alice's hair colour, Jacob' hair and so forth. ( i'm not going to on too much about this as I know things change for movies)

3 Too short, I get that this is being marketed for Preteens (I hate the word tween) and teens but the movie should have been about 30 mins longer for the flow to work better and you could have had more in the movie.

4 now this just pissed me off they don't have the one kiss that Edward just plants on Bella wheb they are parting to escape from James, this is a big thing in the book (they mention this moment in the other books) and they don't have it in the movie adn well that just pissed me off!

Ok so my fave thing counting downto number 1

5 Jasper and Alice they were awesome, whatever they were doing

4 Bella's red truck

3 The chemistry between the leads was great

2 Edward walking in the parking lot with the Raybands and that smirk of his (hot)

1 Edward in the waffle shirt *

As a final word, I plan on seeing the movie once more as when we went I was on about 8 hours of sleep for the week and was a little punchy, which might have been why I laughed a lot at this movie. But If you want to see a none thinking movie for just a good time, then I say go see Twilight.

* i kinda yelled really loudly in the theater at this point and it was the one time the theater was dead silent, but whatever that man looks good in a waffle shirt!

Mikes View

Catherine Hardwick officially owes me $12.50

All be it the movie wasn't absolutely awful. I did enjoy my movie going experience. I have never laughed so hard. Some elements of the movie were good. The one main part that i believed was really well done wasn't actually in the book and that was the big fight between Edward and James.

The movie was poorly directed in my opinion. The actors weren't directed to their full potential. Edward, instead of looking tortured just looked constipated and what was with Bella. She never closed her mouth when it was getting intense between both of them.

And the part where Edward shows Bella what he looks like in the sun... All i could think was...
"Look at me. I'm A MONSTER ... and look at me sparkle." So funny.

I LOVE Jasper and Alice. They were my favorite part of the movie. Especially when they were killing James and Jasper was dancing around the fire. Love them both.

Would I see the movie again. Well yes i would. I think that I was just in a weird and silly mood when we went and saw it and I would have a different opinion of the movie if I saw it again.

Well, see it for yourself or not i could care either way.

TWILIGHT!

So we have a Mikes view and a Jess' view of the movie twilight.

Some insight:

Me and Jess decided to start a book club in which we read books that are being made into movies now. So twilight was our first book. We both enjoyed the book. Upon finishing we went and saw twilight.

We both have our own views on the movie.

So we officially Suck

So yeah...
The title pretty much sums it up.

Boots

So, Today was our boot adventure. Our adventure to find boots.

We found ourselves down at chinook mall today. Having snowed over night it was soppy and wet out. So our main mission was to find a pair of waterproof boots for the winter.

We walked past aldo and decided not to go in well because its aldo.
We went into Spring and saw some ok stuff.

We took a break from shoes for a second and went into Zara. No sales on but it was kind neat to see what they had that was new.

THEN..
(In order to understand the reason we went to stone ridge I need to tell you this. I looked online for a pair of boots and found a really nice pair of Uggs for men. Only $180 online. Thats not that bad for nice boots...)

OK, so we went to stoneridge and found the boots I wanted to get, $260!!!! Hell no.

So as our journey has made us hungry we stopped by the food court for a poutine, and boy was it good.

We walked down to Payless and saw some but decided that if we were gonna spend that kind of money might as well go to a store that is better. Same price. Why not.

BACK TO SPRING.

I found a pair of boots and jess did as well, however she had to have them order and they are being delivered to the store this week...
We had them delivered there because jess lives in a basement suite.

So not that exciting but a post none the less.

Stay Tuned... Kyla comes this week so there will be some stories to be told.

This is a Pure Mike Blog.

So.
The drastic calgary weather changes... How about them? huh, HUH!?

I do NOT like them. Not one bit. Every time...
ESPECIALLY during winter, as it is so dry, I get damn nose bleeds.

These are no ordinary nose bleeds. Let me tell you. The one that i had tonight, because it decided to snow out of the blue, Was stupid, it started... then it stopped and then... can you guess. THATS RIGHT!!! it started again.. and it was like.. dribble dribble dribble. I held my head back I might have drowned. MAN soooo gross.

I am pretty sure a few of you think so. But ya know what. Cant have an awesome blog without some gross facts... and guess what this is one of those GEEE ROOSSS facts.

Goodnight and ado fair readers.

The Awesomeness we refer to as ... KYLA

So...

this of course is a guilt blog. We forgot to mention that our dear friend Kyla is coming to visit. Jess and kyla are attending the New Kids On The Block Concert.

Now if you want to hear a story that is one you should read. It will be posted IMMEDIATLEY the day after the show.

Now for those of you who read this... be warned now that anything to do with kyla might be CRAZY.

You see, she is that kind of person. She is a teacher and is still in her prime. So i mean.. teaching must be boring as it is and she must feel the need to PARTY HARD!

*take what is being said with a grain of salt as it is early in the am, and i am just rambling. Like i said this is a guilt post because SOMEONE made me feel bad *you know who you are

It was a club.

The Perfect Food Combination

On our Adventure the other day we found ourselves at "Chili's". Not knowing what we wanted we sat down and looked through the menu with uncertainty. In the end we ended up ordering an order of Chili Cheese Fries and the Chocolate Brownie Dessert.

Well let me tell you. It was rather ... well to put it ... Awesome

it had everything you needed to tickle your taste buds.

It was:
Cold / Hot
Sweet / Salty
Spicy / Sweet

Of course to obtain this plethora of sensations you need to alternate back and forth from each dish.

Give it a try. Order the complete opposites and have them both at the same time.

Fair Warning

Hi Five

*hi Five*

So we have succeeded in step one of our totally awesome plan to turn our views and expressions, rants and raves, confessions and denials etc, etc, etc... into a book.

Yes we realize that this may be an irrational dream. But it doesn't matter. Because at least we have dreams.

So as we set out on this awesome adventure. This EPIC adventure in our sub standard lives we will do our best to keep you posted of any events that we find of importance and if it doesn't seem important to you please support us!
